Egypt's interim Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy has started a tour of the Arab region.

Fahmy will meet his Jordanian counterpart on Sunday to discuss recent developments in Egypt and how to support the Egyptian position.

Last week, several countries, including Denmark and Germany, cut aid to Egypt after a deadly security crackdown on supporters of former president Mohamed Morsi left hundreds dead.

The US cancelled an annual exercise and delayed the transfer of four F-16 jets to Egypt in response to the crackdown.

Obama administration officials have since been weighing whether to cut off more than $1 billion in annual aid to Egypt.

However, Arab countries, such as Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have expressed their full support for Egypt's interim government since Morsi's ouster on 3 July 2013. Saudi Arabia vowed to make up financially for any reduction in Western aid to Egypt.
