At least two conscripts were killed on Wednsday in an attack by unknown assailants in Egypt's restive Sinai peninsula.
The attack, which took place in the Gisr Al-Wady district of northern Sinai's Al-Arish, left eight injured, reported Al-Ahram's Arabic news website.
Attacks targetting security personnel have been on the rise since former president Mohamed Morsi's removal from office on 3 July by Egyptian armed forces, following mass popular protests.
At least 16 officers have been reportedly killed in attacks on security checkpoints in the peninsula.
On 20 August, 25 Egyptian policemen were killed when suspected militants ambushed a personnel carrier near Rafah.
