UN Secretary-General to meet with Egyptian officials tomorrow

In his first visit to Egypt following the January 25 Revolution, the UN Secretary-General will discuss the transitional period and beyond

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon will meet with Egyptian officials in Cairo tomorrow.

Ki-Moon, who will arrive in Egypt today, will meet with Prime Minister Essam Sharaf and his deputy Yehia El-Gamal as well as Field Marshall Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, the head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces and Foreign Minister Nabil El Araby.

Ki-Moon will discuss UN support of Egypt in the transitional period and how to build the country without corruption and provide proper monitoring mechanisms. He will also discuss how to raise awareness of human rights in the country's security apparatus and how to foster greater participation by women in Egypt’s public life.
