EU foreign policy chief to meet with Brotherhood leaders during Cairo trip, which has been delayed 24 hours

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton postponed her arrival in Cairo by one day without giving a reason; now due to arrive Wednesday at 9pm, the DPA reported.

The EU ambassador to Egypt said Ashton’s arrival will be delayed by 24 hours, but did not mention the reason for the delay, according to anonymous diplomatic and security sources at Cairo Airport.

Ashton is expected to meet with figures from the Muslim Brotherhood, from which deposed president Mohamed Morsi hails, during a three-day visit to Cairo, to push for their reconciliation with Egypt's transitional government.
