A judge has extended the detention of deposed Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi for 30 days pending investigations into his escape from prison during the 2011 uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak.

Morsi and other senior members of the Muslim Brotherhood escaped from Wadi El-Natroun prison during the uprising.

On 26 July, Morsi was detained for 15 days over allegations the escape was planned in collaboration with Palestinian Islamist group Hamas and Lebanese Shia group Hezbollah.

Morsi has been held at a secret location since he was removed from the presidency by the army on 3 July following mass nationwide protests.
