Fire erupts in Egypt Central Bank

Smoke covers the streets as fire erupts in Egypt Central Bank, purportedly no documents inside

A fire erupted Saturday in Egypt’s Central Bank. A source from the bank stated that there were no documents, files or papers in the bank.

The building had been empty for seven months already, due to renovations, and documents were moved to the bank’s new building, the source said.

Document burning in many state buildings during and in the aftermath of Egypt’s revolution is popularly believed to be the efforts of state agencies to cover up corruption.
