Head of the Ministry of Military Production Reda Hafez passed away on Tuesday, aged 60, after suffering from heart-related illness for over a month, reported Al-Ahram's Arabic news website.
Hafez was one of the handful of ministers appointed by deposed president Mohamed Morsi to keep his position in the cabinet reshuffle following the latter's ouster on 3 July.
He served in the Egyptian Air Force since 1972, becoming its commander in 2008 -- and until his appointment as minister of military production in 2012 -- among other command posts during his career.
The air marshal is a member of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), which ruled Egypt from February 2011 to June 2012.
