Gaber Nassar's son was injured in clashes between students and security that left at least one dead

The son of Cairo University President Gaber Nassar, Mohamed Gaber Nassar, was injured during clashes between security forces and Muslim Brotherhood supporters at the campus on Thursday.

It is not yet clear whether he was taking part in the clashes or injured accidentally. Security sources told Ahram Online that he was injured and tranferred to Al-Qasr Al-Aini hospital near the campus.

Earlier, a student was killed during the clashes on Thursday afternoon, an official source from the interior ministry told the Ahram Arabic news website.

Business student Omar Osama died from a gunshot wound, the interior ministry said.

Nassar denied the news, saying clashes only injured six people.

The health ministry said one died and 10 were injured in the clashes.

The student union announced in the early evening that another student at the faculty of science, Ali Mohamed Ali, died of gun shot wounds.
