The Giza Criminal Court announced that a verdict over money laundering charges against former interior minister Habib Al-Adly is to be returned on 5 May.
Adly is indicted on charges of money laundering and embezzlement. He is also being held accountable for the killing of protesters in the first few days of the January 25 Revolution.
The judges heard Adly’s defence team today during Monday’s court session, with lawyer Essam El-Battawi stressing to the court that his client kept Egypt safe for 14 years.
The session started at 10:30am as Al-Adly and the judges arrived to the courtroom later than scheduled due to inclement weather.
