Egyptian police stated on Tuesday that they have arrested the perpetrator of a bomb attack carried out in October in the city of Ismailia, Al-Ahram Arabic reported.
While the culprit was detained on suspicion of committing a different crime, police said investigations revealed he was a member of Ansar Bait Al-Maqdis – the militant Islamist group who claim responsibility for the attack – and that he carried out the October bombing.
A military intelligence building was targeted by the car bomb, but there were no fatalities. Six army personnel were injured.
Ansar Bait Al-Maqdis has claimed a number of other attacks against police and army facilities and personnel in recent months, including a bombing in Mansoura in December that killed 16 people.
