Stripping off his clothes and cursing the cabin crew, a Swedish passenger of Palestinian origin suffered a nervous breakdown on Wednesday minutes before the plane carrying him from Amsterdam was to land in Cairo, reported Al-Ahram's Arabic news website.

The passenger was reportedly arrested by airport security after he refused to leave the plane and was then sent to the medical centre for treatment.

General Mohamed Abdel-Aal, head of security at Cairo International Airport, ordered legal action be taken against him.
