Egyptian-Syrian Eid Salah was killed yesterday during violent protests that erupted in the ‎city of Daraa

Egyptian-Syrian Eid Salah was killed yesterday during violent protests that erupted in the ‎city of Daraa in the southern Syrian suburbs, according to Egypt’s Ambassador to Syria ‎Shawki Ismail. 

Salah died when a bullet penetrated his chest shortly after leaving a mosque, following ‎Friday prayers. He was 24. ‎
    
‎“The embassy received an anonymous phone call from one of Eid Saleh’s ‎neighbours, saying that he had been killed by gunshot during the protests in Daraa,” ‎Ismail told MENA in Damascus on Saturday. “His funeral is to be held today.‎"

‎“The embassy has called on Syrian authorities to investigate the incident and keep us ‎posted," Ismail added.‎

Salah’s late father was Egyptian while his mother is Syrian. He was born and bred in Daraa.

Daraa, the centre of a wave of protests against the regime of President Bashar Al-Assad, reportedly saw ‎‎17 people killed on Friday after government troops opened fire on protesters.‎

There are seven Egyptian families in the city, Ismail said.
