Minors had been arrested during clashes from November to January on charges of defying Egypt's protest law, which mandates a police approval for all demonstrations

An Alexandria juvenile misdemeanour court on Wednesday ordered the release of 76 minors on bail pending trial.

The underage defendants were charged with violating a protest law issued in November which bans all demonstrations that are not pre-approved by the interior ministry.

A court verdict for the defendants will be issued on 9 April.

The 76 were arrested in different clashes that took place between supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and security forces in November, December and January.

They are also accused of vandalising public property and blocking roads.

Their bail ranges from LE5,000 to 10,000.
