Prosecutor Essam El-Gohary, the assistant justice minister for the Illicit Gains Authority, has summoned the former speaker of parliament, Fathi Sorour to be questioned under accusations of illicit augmentation of wealth.
Sorour faces accusations of illegal use of political influence to create financial profits.
This comes in the wake of reports submitted by a number of citizens against the former speaker of parliament, and many other reports by supervisory authorities.
Sorour also faces the accusation, by activists, that he was deeply involved in deploying thugs to kill the demonstrators in what was known as the “Battle of the Camel”, on 2 February, that left about 18 people dead and hundreds injured.
