TOP 50 Women launches ‘Women Towards Sustainability’ awareness program ahead of COP27

TOP 50 Women Forum launched on Wednesday the “Women Towards Sustainability,” the first-of-its-kind integrated climate awareness program for women in business and female leaders to support the transition to the green economy and preservation of the environment.

The launch featured a seminar held in collaboration with the Institute of National Planning (INP) and DCarbon Sustainability Consultancy.

The seminar was held in parallel with Egypt’s preparations to host the upcoming 27th UN Climate Change Forum (COP27) in Sharm El-Shiekh 6-18 November.

TOP 50 Women Forum founder, Dina Abdel-Fattah, hailed the launch of qualification programmes for female cadres and women in business, in cooperation with the INP and Dcarbon.

“These specialised training programmes will be developed for women working in several sectors, such as financial, banking and fashion. with a prime focus on the green economy,” said Dina.

“The forum is also discussing the idea of developing a master's programs in women's studies to compensate for the shortage in post-graduate programs available in the field,” said Abdel-Fattah.

INP President Ashraf El-Araby highlighted that their partnership with the forum is aligned with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and INP’s women’s empowerment strategy that was set up in 2015.

El-Araby also said that the INP has been looking forward to extending cooperation in advancing women’s empowerment and sustainable development for the third consecutive year.

INP offers various programs of post-graduate studies, consultancy services in planning and development for public or private entities operating in several sectors.

Furthermore, the INP has partnered with various international organisations including the World Bank and the Arab Planning Institute.

DCarbon-Egypt CEO Ehab Shalaby stated that his organisation prioritises localisation and capacity-building for sustainability.

“Egyptian culture should be incorporated in sustainability in order to address the challenges that the country is facing and turn them into opportunities,” Shalaby argued.

TOP 50 Women Forum is the first-of-its-kind platform that brings together female prfessionals in Egypt.

The forum was set up by 50 honourees recognised as the most influential women in the Egyptian economy during ‘Egypt For the Best Summit 2016.’

It promotes women as key partners in socio-economic development, with members including female ministers, major executives and entrepreneurs.
