New Zealand is very interested in the conference given the effect of climate change on all the world's countries, the ambassador told reporters following a training course organised by the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding.

Lewis commended his country’s cooperation with Egypt at the multilateral level, noting that both countries are involved in UN peacekeeping missions.

Meanwhile, he emphasised the importance of the centre’s training course organised through the United Nations Development Program in cooperation with New Zealand’s government.

The training course, which took place 10-13 October, aimed to advance gender-responsive peacekeeping by equipping Arab military and police UN peacekeepers with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties.
