SODIC, a leading real estate developer in Egypt, will be among the sponsors of the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference (COP27), slated for 6-18 November in the Egyptian Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt’s presidency of the conference announced in a statement.

Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister and General Coordinator for COP27 Organisational and Financial Affairs Ashraf Abbas signed an MoU last week with SODIC’s Managing Director Maged Sherif under which SODIC will participate in the conference as a supporting sponsor.

“SODIC’s participation comes in line with its strong and longstanding commitment to integrating environmental, social and corporate governance frameworks into its strategy and operations,” the COP27 presidency stated.

Founded in 1996, SODIC is a leading real estate development company that is committed to building communities across Egypt in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

SODIC is a signatory of the non-binding UN Global Compact aimed at encouraging businesses around the world to adopt sustainable, socially responsible policies.

The COP27 presidency has so far announced multiple sponsors and partners to the conference, including leading US tech company IBMVodafone, and Boston Consulting Group as partners and MicrosoftCoca-Cola, and SODIC as sponsors.

The Egyptian presidency of COP27 has vowed to work with local and international parties to push forward climate action and turn climate pledges into action on the ground.

Egypt hopes to use its presidency of the conference to encourage emissions reduction, advance climate adaptation and mitigation efforts and boost climate finance flows to developing countries.
