Of the 210 busses, 100 buses run on natural gas and 110 busses run on electricity, the Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna said in a statement.
Moving the buses to Sharm El-Sheikh, Amna said, comes within the framework of the state's ongoing preparations for hosting COP27 in the Red Sea city.
The minister also explained that the buses were manufactured in accordance with the cooperation protocols signed between the Ministry of Local Development , the Ministry of Military Production and the governorates of Cairo and Alexandria.
The Ministry of Military Production said earlier that it had collaborated with the Transportation Industry Company (MCV) to produce the first fully-electric bus in Egypt under the logo SETIBUS, adding that the buses have been manufactured at the same factory that produces and repairs armoured vehicles.
More than 35,000 participants are expected to attend COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, according to the official website of the conference.
