Prachee Shah, India's highly acclaimed Kathak dancer, gave a performance in Cairo on Monday 3 August at Sayed Darwish Theatre in Cairo.
Prachee was accompanied by four musicians, including her guru (Kathak dance teacher) -- representing the 7th generation of Jaipur gharana (family) of Kathak masters.
Holder of an MA in Kathak, Prachee Shah was also crowned Miss Mumbai in the late 1990's and in 2000 she set a Guinness World Record for 93 Kathak spins in one minute.
Prachee has given over 200 performances in India, the USA, the UK and South Africa and has garnered numerous awards and recognition, including titles such as ‘Sringarmani’ and ‘Nritya Urvashi’ which are given to the best dancers in the field.
She is also a very popular face on Indian television, having acted in a number of popular soap operas.
