The first of its kind, the Zamalek Arts Festival, which took place in the early hours of Saturday 28 November, is an initiative motored by three art education institutions in Cairo: the Faculty of Art Education, the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Music Education.
All three institutions are located in the district of Zamalek in the heart of Cairo, along Ismail Mohamed Street.
The festival included presentations of skill by students representing the mentioned faculties.
From pottery-making, drawing, handicrafts, sculpting, makeup techniques, to musical performances, the students attracted the attention of many passersby.
The event was also joined by a number of charity organisations who presented their works, handicrafts in specific, while teaching the youngest attendees the techniques used in their production.
The event, which concluded at 3pm, drew large crowds of all generations living in the neighbourhood, with children in particular enjoying participating in the small artistic workshops as well as watching the musical performances.
