Egyptian Writers Union to host celebrated Saudi poet

Writers union to hold event honouring Saudi Arabian poet Abdullah Al-Khashramy

The Egyptian Writers Union will hold a ceremony in honour of Saudi Arabian poet Abdullah Al-Khashramy, head of the Arabian Centre for Culture and Media and founder of the World Union of Poets, on the occasion of his current visit to Cairo.

The event will take place at 6pm on Monday at the offices of the Egyptian Writers Union in Zamalek.

The ceremony is being organised within the context of the activities of the union's Arabian Relations Committee, headed by poet Hussein El-Qabahi.

The event is expected to be attended by a number of prominent Egyptian intellectuals, members of the writers union and Arab literary figures currently residing in Cairo. UNESCO General Consul Dr Hafez Shams El-Din is also scheduled to attend the ceremony.
