In 1848, the German voyager Prem visited the Sudan for the first time, accompanied by Baron Von Mueller.

In 1848, the German voyager Prem visited the Sudan for the first time, accompanied by Baron Von Mueller. His journey from Cairo to Khartoum took a hundred days. He made a hunting trip in the forests of the White Nile, the Blue Nile and Kurdufan. Next year he made another trip that lasted for several months in which he reached the Ethiopian borders.

The outcome of the two trips was recorded by Prem, and published in one book in the form of diaries containing his observations and experiences. The book focused on the living of foreigners in the Sudan, his trip to Kurdufan, hunting trips and Nile trips 160 years ago.
