Book Talk: The Power of Text by Basma Abdel-Aziz

Writer, Basma Abdel-Aziz, will talk about her book "The Power of Text" in an event held at the Goethe Institute library, on Thursday, 28 Sep at 7:00pm

Goethe institute cultural Salon in Egypt, will host writer Basma Abdel-Aziz, on Thursday, 28 Sep at 7:00pm, to discuss her book Satawt Al-Nass (The power of Text: The discourse of Al-Azhar and the Crisis of Ruling).

The discussion will be chaired by Egyptian Writer and Journalist Ahmed Shawqi Ali.

Goethe Institute in Cairo has launched a cultural Salon earlier this month aiming at opening a "free space for dialogue to exchange ideas over literature in its most open definitions).

The Salon focuses on the Egyptian and Arab writer and exclusively on the Arabic written texts.

The salon kicked off with a discussion with Egyptian writer, Mohammed Abdel-Nabi, the writer of the Arabic Booker shortlisted novel The Spider's Room.

Basma Abdel-Aziz, is winner of Sawiris Cultural Award 2008, and the General Organisation for Cultural Palaces award in 2008. She is best known for her book  "Temptation of Absolute Power," for which she recieved the Ahmed Bahaa-Eddin Award in 2009.

In 2016 she was named one of Foreign Policy's Global Thinkers for her debut novel, The Queue.
