Host of experts discuss what next after the fire of the Egyptian Scientific Institute

The General Egyptian Book Organization (GEBO), headed by Ahmed Megahed, is arranging a discussion titled, “In Defense of the Egyptian Scientific Institute”. The event is taking place Tuesday 27 December in Salah Abdel-Sabour hall at the GEBO premise.

The discussion will feature Zein Abdel-Hadi, newly-appointed head of the Egyptian Library and Archives and head of information and libraries department at Faculty of Arts in Helwan University, Mohamed El-Sharnouby, professor of human geography and current head of the Egyptian Scientific Institute, Mohamed El-Kahlawy, professor of archaeology and Islamic culture at Cairo University and general secretary of the Union of Arab Archeologist. Hamdy Al-Sakut, professor at the AUC, will lead the discussion.

The GEBO itself includes a unique library of rare books that includes some 40 thousand books from Egyptian and international heritage, including a copy of Description De L’Egypt, as well as maps including Atlas of Upper and Lower Egypt.
