Efforts to revive a key library in Iraq have gained the support of Egypt's Bibliotheca Alexandrina

An Egyptian campaign to support the Ashor Banibal Library in Iraq will be launched during the Cairo International Book Fair.

The campaign, which is being coordinated by Khaled Azabdirector of private projects at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to reinforce the new library with a collection of Egyptian books.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina stated that the Saudi Om Alqourra University has joined the campaign, aiming to promote cultural relations between the Arabian libraries through a book exchange programme.

The university said it will provide the Ashor Banibal Library with a collection of 60 scientific books and 42 periodicals in Islamic law and Islamic studies as a gift.

The Ashor Banibal Library Campaign started in Mosul in Iraq, aiming to revive the library, and has succeeded in garnering the cooperation of many cultural institutions in the Arab world, including the Sultan Al-Owaiss Foundation in Saudi Arabia, and several universities.
