Maza Hadath lel Thawra Almasrya (What happened to the Egyptian Revolution), by Galal Amin, Cairo: Shorouk Publishing House. 2012.
The renowned economist and writer Galal Amin's new book tracks corruption in the Egyptian economy during the rule of ousted president Hosni Mubarak, analysing the reasons that led the economy to collapse, gravely affecting the middle and poor classes and paving the way to revolution.
Amin sees economic corruption as a one of the main factors of the Egyptian revolution, yet is optimistic about the future, pointing to elements of a new rising Egyptian economy.
Amin, writer, columnist and professor of economics at the American University in Cairo, gained a master's degree in economics from London University. He has published many books, including: Age of the Mass Crowds, The Myth of Progress and Regression, and Egypt and Egyptians under the Rule of Mubarak.
