American University in Cairo (AUC) will host prominent British political writer Timothy Garton Ash on Wednesday 29 February at 5:00pm to debate with four Egyptian figures on freedom of expression, tackling its limits in Europe and the Middle East. The discussion will be chaired by historian Khaled Fahmy.

 The four Egyptians participating in the debate are Amr Ezzat a journalist and researcher at the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights,  Nora Younis, journalist and activist, Amr Gharbia, blogger and Nadia Kamel, filmmaker.

Timothy Garton Ash, a renowned British political writer and professor of European studies at Oxford University, is also the founder of website freespeechdebate.com. He writes a weekly column for British newspaper The Guardian, and has written several books tackling political transformations in Europe over the past 30 years.
