The work of Mohamed Salmawy has been translated into French, English, Italian and German and many of his plays have been presented with great success in Egypt and abroad. His most famous play was "Salome".
Salmawy has published eight collections of short stories, his last one being “Ten Egyptian Papyri” in 2010.
His novel “Wings of the Butterfly” comes after two decades of publishing his first novel “Coloured Beads”, which was hailed as one of the most important novels in the Arab world. It has been published more than once in Egypt and Syria, before being translated into French and published in Paris by the famous publishing house "Orchibl" in 2010.
The literary critic Salah Fadl wrote about Salamwy’s latest novel describing it as a titian of elegant literature that includes great cultural juice in the arts, music and life, with unequaled professionalism in creating symbols, intensifying emotions, the tracking of human relations and transformations in society.
