The visual artist Alaa Abdel Hamid has just published a new book, Individual Security, with Dar Merit. The protagonist of the story is a night watchmen during the fourth century, who reveals to someone he meets by chance the secrets he keeps finding written on banknotes, which he records in a notebook he keeps at home.
Alaa Abdel Hameed was born in 1986; he works with scraps of refuse, turning them into models of art, which he exhibited in “When I was there”. In the field of literature he has published one novel, “Cool Me”, by the World House for Publication; and another, Boy Wearing his Mind, Waiting on the Edge of Conviction, as well as a collection of short stories “Another World” are forthcoming.
