The Union of Egyptian Publishers has issued a statement supporting the 25 January revolt and confirms the legitemacy of its demands, commending the Egyptian youth who were the driving force behind this uprising. The statement issued on Sunday condemns the acts of violence, killing and kindapping that left behind many victims, including Egyptian journalist and publisher Ahmed Mahmoud, owner of Lataef publishing house.

The statement also condemned the decision to block phone communication and the Internet, considering it an act against the freedom of publishing and knowledge sharing.
