The sports book tackles history of Ultras Ahlawy, the hardcore fans of Cairo-based football team Al-Ahly, from social, economic and artistic angle

Journalist and writer Momen ElMohammad moves away from poetry and satirical writing to release his fifth book "Ahlawy," an in depth exploration into the history of the famous hardcore football fans of Egyptian football team Al-Ahly.

In his debut sports novel, El-Mohammady mixes a focus on the social, economic and artistic impact of the group, who played a major role in 2011's January 25 Revolution, with a straightforward history of the popular Cairo-based club.

Ultras Ahlway was founded in 2007, since 2011 they have been a significant presence in Egypt's revolutionary protests, including fighting on the front line of clashes with security forces.
