Italian cultural Institute in Egypt hosts International Poetry Festival from 3 to 7 Nov

The festival, which will take place at the Italian institute's premises in Cairo's Zamalek, will include poets from Egypt, Italy, Portugal, Palestine and Lebanon

The Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Embassy, in collaboration with the European Union, will hold an international poetry festival under the title "Kalam le-l-Shabab" from 3 to 7 November.

The Festival, which will open on Sunday night, will be held at the Italian Cultural Institute premises at 3, El Sheikh El Marsafi – Zamalek.

 

The festival programme is as follows:

 

Sunday, 3rd November

10:00 am Poetry Voices – Poetry encounter with Valter Hugo Mãe (Portugal)

Tibor Zalán (Hungary): music, videos, poetry reading.

Event in Portuguese, Hungarian, English

Ain Shams University, Al Alsun – Conference Room

11:00 am “DADANLUZ – Da Dante a Mario Luzi. Viaggio autobiografico nella

poesia italiana per immagini” – a lecture by Dante Marianacci Italian / no translation provided

7:00 pm More than words/1 – a night of readings and concerts, with the participation of:

Dante Marianacci (poet, Italy), Bassima Batouli (poet, Lebanon), Sotirios

Muti Hegazy (poet, Egypt), Valter Hugo Mãe (poet and musician, Portugal),

Beit El-Shaer (The House of poetry) behind Al Azhar Mosque, beside Beit Al-Harawi, Islamic Cairo

6-8 pm An evening devoted to young Egyptian poetry – launch of the anthology “Kalam le-l-Shabab” with the trainers and participants to the Project from Cairo, Luxor and Alexandria. Music by Tamer Tawfiq (oud player, Egypt)
