Kurds in full control of Iraq's disputed Kirkuk city: Officials

Kurdish forces took control Thursday of the disputed Iraqi oil hub of Kirkuk, officials said, to protect it against jihadists that have seized large chunks of neighbouring territory.

Iraqi Kurds want to incorporate Kirkuk province into their autonomous region, a move that Baghdad strongly opposes in a bitter, long-running dispute between the two sides.
