A baby girl was delivered from the womb of a Palestinian woman killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza on Friday, the BBC reported.
Medics carried out an emergency caesarean section to save the baby’s life, although her mother had died before the operation was concluded.
Doctors said that the newborn remains in critical condition.
The 23-year-old woman was killed after the airstrike hit a house in the central Gaza town of Deir Al-Balah, according to Al-Jazeera English.
There were four families inside the two-storey building when it was struck in the middle of the night by Israel, Al-Jazeera reported.
The Palestinian death toll from the violence in Gaza is 985 over the three weeks of violence.
A 12-hour ceasefire went into effect on Saturday morning.
