Syrian security forces killed a demonstrator on Friday when they opened fire to disperse a rally in the central city of Homs, a human rights activist said.
Activist Nawar al-Omar said Fuad Rajab, 40, was hit in the head with a bullet when security forces opened fire to break up a demonstration in Syria's third-largest city.
Meanwhile, troops deployed in large numbers to the Damascus suburb of Saqba and "tore down banners and signs hung in the streets," an activist told AFP.
