The death toll from a blast at a university restaurant in western Algeria last week rose to eight after a campus employee died of wounds in hospital, the official APS agency reported Monday.
The gas explosion which ripped through a campus restaurant in Tlemcen, 520 kilometres (320 miles) west of the capital Algiers, as students were having their meal on May 25 also left 37 wounded. According to APS, the likely cause of the explosion was the accumulation of leaking gas in the basement under the campus restaurant.
Three officials face trial over the blast.
