Curt announcement from Jordanian state news agency states the Libyan ambassador, Mohammad Hassan Barghathi resigned

The Libyan ambassador to Jordan has resigned from his post, the state-run Petra news agency reported on Thursday, amid deadly protests against Libyan leader Muammer Gaddafi.

"Libyan ambassador to Amman, Mohammad Hassan Barghathi, has announced his resignation from his post because of the current developments in his country," Petra said without elaborating.

Gaddafi’s regime has met the most serious challenge to its 41-year rule with deadly force, employing their air force to bomb protesters. At least 640 people have died, according to the International Federation for Human Rights.
