"Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen welcomed the General at Bole International Airport," added the ministry.

This visit follows the postponement of a war summit in Djibouti, initially scheduled for Thursday, between Sudanese Army Commander Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan and paramilitary Commander Hemedti, which has now been rescheduled for January.

Sudan's Foreign Ministry revealed Wednesday that Al-Burhan had confirmed his attendance at the Djibouti meeting.

However, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), comprising eight member-states from East Africa, notified the Sudanese authorities of Hemedti's decision to abstain from participation.

The warring generals were expected to hold talks on establishing a potential ceasefire and means to allow humanitarian aid into war-torn Sudan.

This meeting would have marked the first face-to-face interaction since the commencement of the civil war in Sudan last April.

According to the United Nations, the ongoing war in Sudan has claimed the lives of 10,000 people and internally displaced approximately 7 million.

Additionally, an estimated 1.5 million individuals have sought refuge in neighboring countries.
