Filipino UN peacekeepers in Golan clash with Syrian rebels: Govt.

Philippine soldiers serving as UN peacekeepers in the Golan Heights clashed with Syrian rebels, Defence Minister Voltaire Gazmin said in Manila Saturday.

More than 70 Filipino peacekeepers had been trapped at two posts in Syria. Gazmin said one group had been "extricated" from their position but the second group "is now under attack".
