UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has announced that peace talks between the warring parties in Yemen will resume in Geneva on June 14.

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Ban welcomed the decisions by Yemen's exiled President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi and Shiite Houthi rebels who control the capital Sanaa to attend the UN-led talks in Switzerland. He urged the parties to engage "in good faith and without pre-conditions."

Dujarric said Saturday that Ban hopes the meetings will restart "a peaceful, orderly, inclusive and Yemeni-led transition process."

The secretary-general also reiterated his call for another humanitarian pause to get aid to hundreds of thousands of Yemenis in need. Ban said this could also help create an atmosphere "that is more conducive for peaceful dialogue."
