Yemen suspends flights at Sanaa airport

AFP , Thursday 2 Jun 2011

Flights to Sanaa airport have been suspended and diverted to the southern city of Aden, an aviation official told AFP as fighting raged between armed tribesmen and security forces in the capital.
"All flights have been diverted to Aden airport," said the official who requested anonymity. The decision came as heavy fighting gripped Al-Hasaba neighbourhood, 10 kilometres (six miles) south of the airport.
