Saleh is expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Saturday for treatment for head and neck wounds he suffered a day earlier in an attack on the presidential palace, a Saudi government source said.
The source who asked not to be named said Saleh was expected in a few hours.
Yemen's Vice President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi has taken over as acting president and supreme commander of the armed forces, Al Jazeera said Saturday after the country's president suffered injuries in a rocket attack.
Al Jazeera cited unspecified sources.
Seven other people were killed in the attack that wounded Saleh, who is facing mounting pressure to end his three-decade rule over Yemen.
