Israel arrests settler suspect in base vandalism

Israeli police have arrested a West Bank settler suspected of breaking into an army base, slashing tires and scrawling graffiti on military jeeps

Israeli Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld says the 26-year-old man, a settler suspected of breaking into an army base, is from the northern West Bank settlement of Eli. He will appear in court Tuesday.

Rosenfeld says the attack was a so-called "price tag" mission, referring to a settler practice of attacking Palestinians or the army in retaliation for Israeli government operations against settlers.

Israeli police created a task force to investigate "price tag" suspects after the break-in at the army base in early September.

Rosenfeld says the task force is also looking for arsonists who torched two mosques.
