Libya's new regime fighters seized control of a key road in Sirte on Saturday as fierce gun battles raged in the centre of Mummar Gaddafi's hometown, an AFP correspondent said.
In an attack from the east, National Transitional Council fighters wrested control of a dual-lane avenue which leads to the south of the coastal town and were advancing into the centre.
