The plane of Qatar’s emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad al Thani landed in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah airport for the first time since the beginning of the Qatar-Gulf crisis in 2017, Qatar Today news website tweeted on Wednesday.
Last Sunday, Qatar’s foreign ministry said Tamim received an invitation from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to attend the summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and a meeting of Arab rulers in Mecca on May 30.
In June 2017, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Egypt imposed an economic and diplomatic boycott on Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism and having close connections with Iran.
