Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Nayef Falah Mubarak al Hajraf on Tuesday welcomed the Arab foreign ministers' decision on Israeli practices in Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque.

In statements carried by the Saudi Press Agency, Hajraf said that Israeli actions against Palestinians in East Jerusalem, including the forced eviction of Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, constitute serious violation of international law and threaten regional security and stability.

He called on the international community to press Israeli authorities to immediately stop these violations in the sacred city and cease settlement construction as well as the forced eviction of Palestinians, the statement added.

Hajraf stressed the GCC's support of Palestinians' right to establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the lines of 4 June, 1967, in accordance with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.
