Lebanese Army announced that it opened fire at an Israeli drone that breached Lebanon's southern airspace and hovered over a military patrol on Firday.

"As an army patrol was inspecting an Israeli violation in the outskirts of the town of Houla and the Honin Valley, a drone belonging to the Israeli enemy violated the Lebanese airspace over the area mentioned above and hovered over the patrol, which promoted soldiers to open fire toward it," the Lebanese army said in a statement.

Israeli army usually penetrates Lebanese airspace without permission, but the Lebanese army interception is rare.

After years of talks mediated by the United States, Lebanon and Israel agreed to demarcate their maritime border in October. The land boundary between the two is still in dispute.
