The earthquake occurred at a depth of seven kilometers in the Malatya province, AFAD added.
"Search and rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the region and started to work," the AFAD added.
The earthquakes comes only weeks after two devastating earthquakes hit southern Turkey on 6 February, leaving tens of thousands of victims across cities on both sides of the Turkey-Syria border.
The most recent quake comes days after Dutch seismologist Frank Hoogerbeets, who gained notoriety for predicting the Turkey quakes, warned of continued seismic activity between 25 and 26 February, "but probably not much" he said in a tweet.
"The first week of March will be critical," the Dutch seismologist revealed.
