The new sanctions target four companies and three individuals based in Iran and Turkey.

Those sanctioned are helping Tehran acquire European-made drone engines for its drone and weapons programs, the Treasury Department said.

"Iran's well-documented deployment of drone and conventional arms to its proxies continues undermining the regional security and global stability," said Brian Nelson, the Deputy Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the department.

US citizens will be prohibited from doing business with the companies or individuals targeted by the new sanctions and all relevant assets will be frozen, according to the new decision.
