Iran’s Ambassador to Abu Dhabi Reza Ameri delivered the invitation to UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khalifa Shaheen Almarar during a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Iranian Press TV and Emirates News Agency.
In April, Iran appointed an ambassador to the UAE for the first time since 2016, coinciding with a notable reshaping of relations between Gulf states and Iran.
This development followed an agreement brokered by China in March between Iran and Saudi Arabia aimed at restoring ties after a prolonged period of rupture.
In June, Bin Zayed met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at Al- Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi where Abdollahian extended an invitation from Raisi for the UAE president to visit Iran.
At that time, they exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, and discussed the importance of building on positive developments to benefit the people of the region and enhance regional stability and prosperity.
The UAE and Iran signed an air transport services agreement, which aims to organize air transportation between the two countries and increase trade and tourism opportunities.
Iran is seeking to ease tensions with Gulf Arab countries, fuelled in recent years by the conflicts in Yemen and Syria.
